Buffalo’s Rock Night, Comrades Club, Houghton-le-Spring (Sep 2013)

Friday 6th September

Ninth Line-Up: Lenny (Vocals), Woody (Drums), Chris (Bass), Tom Atkinson (Guitar)

Tubesnake played for ‘The Herd’ to a good sized crowd on a night that was one of the wettest outside we’ve seen in a long while. Salutations to those who braved the weather and turned out for a night of live music with more than a little taste of L.A. to it. Kicking off with Bowie’s Suffragette City, Tubesnake ran through a selection of Doors tracks including Soul Kitchen, L.A. Woman, Roadhouse Blues, Love Me Two Times and Riders On The Storm as well as rock classics from The Who, Stones, Kinks, T.Rex and REM. It’s worth remarking that it was the first time we’d heard a Cliff Richard song (Devil Woman) followed by a track from King Crimson (21st Century Schizoid Man) – a strange brew. With Tubesnake, you get a performance not just live music, and vocalist Len stalked the stage muttering Jim Morrison’s dark lyrics with menace while the rest of the band supported the Lizard King reborn. An excellent night, a good crowd and before we knew it the music was over.
